Interlace pattern generator
Interlace is a woven pattern: ribbons that pass over and under each other like wicker or a basket weave. Shade the crossings and the weave pops right off the paper.

What is an interlace or woven pattern?
Weaving interlaces strands so they pass over and under one another, the structure behind baskets, cloth, and Celtic knotwork. Deciding which ribbon lies on top at each crossing, and shading it, is what makes a flat drawing look genuinely woven.

How to color an interlace pattern
Shade the over and under at each crossing and the ribbons lift right off the paper. The same trick is what makes a wicker chair or a woven basket read as three-dimensional on flat paper.
Interlace is being saved for a printable pack, so it is not in the free generator at the moment. There is plenty to play with in the meantime: the studio has a whole shelf of free patterns to generate, tweak, print and download.
Great for: basket weave, wicker, and Celtic-style knotwork.
